Game Play

How players start the game?

Between two and six players start the game. One player takes the role of the Dictator, the other players become Delegates representing one of the five continents of the world. The goal of Democracy is to take control of and develop the facilities and regions of the board while collecting votes.

How is the role of the Dictator decided?

The Dictator is chosen by the role of the dice. With more votes and more turns than anyone else, is dictatorship inevitable? Players quickly begin to take control of parts of the board, developments appear and alliances are made. The challenges of defeating the Dictator soon appear as the board becomes dominated by the Dictators developments.

How can the Dictator be defeated?

As the Delegates start to get organised and control of some of their region, more colours begin to appear on the board and collective benefits start to kick in. Now the struggle for power really begins. Will the Delegates stick together and agree on tactics to stop the Dictator, or will there be betrayal and attempts to replace the Dictator?

How long does a game last?

The game usually takes anything between 45 minutes and 2 hours to play. Of course it all depends on the number of players, the tactics of the players and the luck of the draw.  The game can be ended early by using a vote count.

How is the game won?

The player, or group of players who gains control of the majority of the board and wins the most votes untimately wins the game. The game can be played until the last player standing, or can be ended by a vote count at any point.
